How AHA BLS, ACLS & PALS Certification Works: Online Learning and In-Person Skills?
Getting certified in lifesaving skills doesn’t have to be stressful or time-consuming. With the American Heart Association’s (AHA) blended format, you can complete most of the training online, whenever it fits into your schedule, and finish up with a quick, hands-on skills session in person.
Step 1: Register and Learn Online
Once you sign up, you’ll receive an email within a couple of hours with a direct link to your official AHA course. From there, you can dive in right away or save it for later, whatever works best for your routine.
The best part? You can access the course from anywhere at your desk during a lunch break, in a quiet corner at school, or even from your phone on the couch. On average, the online portion takes:
- BLS (Basic Life Support): About 1–2 hours
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Around 2–3 hours
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Approximately 3–4 hours
Step 2: In-Person Skills Session
After completing the online lessons, you’ll head to the location you selected during registration on your scheduled day and time. This is where you’ll get hands-on practice with the essential skills you just learned.
The skills check is quick, focused, and designed to boost your confidence. Most people complete it in around 30 minutes at our AHA CPR Certification Station.
Step 3: Earn Your Certification
Once you finish the course, you’ll instantly get your official certification from the American Heart Association. No more hanging around or waiting weeks for a card; it’s delivered to you right away. You’ll walk out with proof of your training in hand, ready for work, health sectors, school, or any situation where lifesaving skills matter.
Convenient, Cost-Effective Certification Made Simple
Getting certified doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. This new training format is designed for real people with busy lives, whether you’re a healthcare professional rushing to renew your certification or a student looking for a fast, efficient way to get started. With flexible scheduling and a wide network of locations across the United States and beyond, finding a time that fits your day has never been easier.
What makes it even better? You can stack multiple certifications in one trip. Simply add courses like BLS, ACLS, or PALS to your registration, and schedule them back-to-back. It’s a practical, budget-friendly way to check off all your certification needs without running around town or stretching your schedule too tight.

It’s our way of saying thanks for completing the course and adding a little extra something to make your experience memorable.
Your American Heart Association Card
Once you finish your skills session, you’ll get your official American Heart Association eCard right away. It’s valid for two years and shows that you’ve completed the course. This is the same certification you’d get from a traditional instructor-led class, but without all the extra time and hassle.
What to Know Before You Register?
- Physical Demands: CPR is physically demanding. Be ready to use your arms, shoulders, and upper body when performing compressions on the manikin.
- Physical Considerations: If you have pain, weakness, or injuries in your hands, wrists, shoulders, or back (like carpal tunnel), it’s best to wait until you feel better before registering.
