TIPS TO HELP YOU PASS QUICKLY

Please read below to help you. There are a few things that are consistently not followed properly which increases your time performing the skills. Here are two common problems:
1) The airway works! You have to get a seal with the E – C technique and grab under the chin and pull the head back to open the airway. Position yourself behind the head of the manikin and place the mask over the face. Make a seal with your index finger and thumb creating a “C” around the top of the mask pushing the mask to the face. Your other fingers need to go under the chin/jaw lifting up and pulling the head back towards you. This will open the airway. Squeeze the bag nice and easy and air will go in. You must PULL THE HEAD BACK TOWARDS YOU with your fingers under the chin. Trust us, air will go in but you have to perform this properly.
2) When performing two rescuer CPR and it’s your turn to do chest compressions, COUNT OUT LOUD with each compression and STOP AT 30, STOP AT 30, STOP AT 30!!! (or 15 for child/infant)! If you interrupt the rescuer its points are deducted. When giving breaths during the two rescuer CPR skills, the breaths are back to back with a short 2 second pause in-between. Not six seconds like you do for the rescue breathing skill.

I) SKILL 1 is 60 consecutive compressions.

II) SKILL 2 is 12 ventilations with the BVM.

III) SKILLS 3 is two-rescuer CPR (30:2)

If you are doing ACLS, you are now finished. SKILLS 4, 5, 6 are the same as above except on the infant. Don’t worry if you did not pass the skills testing. Sometimes it can take a few tries. Make sure you watch the demo videos and take breaks as needed. Keep trying, YOU CAN DO IT! You can take as many tries as needed to pass.
